We would like to congratulate Brent & Shawnee Metzinger as the 1st Place Winners of the Christmas Lighting Contest. We would also like to congratulate Billy & Tara Walker on their 2nd Place win. Thank you to all those who decorated this year! You truly make the town look awesome!
The Town of Kirklin, along with Kirklin Main Street, would like to recognize all those involved with the recent paver installation project in the downtown Kirklin area. Thank you to Dwain Pitzer for organizing and moving the project along. Thank you to the Farmers Bank, Meyer & Najem, & The Kirklin Public Library for joining with the town as sponsors of the project. Thank you to the Clinton Central FFA, Clayton Stowers & family contributed many volunteer hours removing the sod prior to the installation of pavers. We truly could not have done this project without all of you!
Thank you to the Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs for the grant award! The Town of Kirklin is awarded $700,000 for improvements to the town’s wastewater treatment plant and collection system. The wastewater treatment plant improvements include new wet weather storage facilities, a new mechanical fine screen and a new influent pump station. The project will also rehabilitate portions of the sanitary sewers deemed the highest priority problem areas associated with infiltration/inflow. The project will benefit residents by addressing a failing wastewater treatment plant, addressing current health and safety issues, and helping keep wastewater rates affordable for residents.
We have a pamphlet available at Town Hall (Kirklin Community Center) that explains the services we offer and some helpful phone numbers. Please stop in and pick one up! In the meantime a common question is: When is trash pick up. Trash collection is on Monday mornings. All trash must be put out for pick up by 7:30 a.m.
The Kirklin Police Department would like to send a big THANK YOU to Kenny Kalpesh for donating two AED's to our police department. An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is a sophisticated, easy-to-use medical device used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. They analyze the heart's rhythym and, if needed, can produce an electrical shock to the heart to help re-establish a normal rhythym again. They are truly life-saving devices and the Town and KPD truly appreciates his generous donation!
As everyone has probably noticed, the downtown bumpouts have been planted with beautiful flowers this summer. Aside from helping to manage stormwater, bumpouts also help with traffic calming, hopefully slowing vehicles down as they travel through Kirklin. The sponsors of the landscaping this year are Antique Cellar, White Lion Antiques, Lamb Farms, Greencycle of Indiana, Warren Landscape, Peyton with Platinum Landscaping, and Elite Lawn & Landscape. If you see any of those folks around, please try to remember to thank them for doing their part in helping to improve and beautify our downtown!
